With whom are you working?

1 Corinthians 3:9

For we are God’s fellow workers;

The Apostle Paul writing to the Corinthian church, addressed the bickering taking place amongst them over the roles of the different leaders and workers, and the divisions that came about as a result, made the statement above.

While we at Living Stones GY don’t have bickering and division but the statement Paul makes here is still useful to us as leaders. We are God’s fellow workers.

Sometimes, in the fog of activity, we can loose sight of whom we’re really working with. While we are, in a sense, working with each other; and while we are, in a sense, working with the pastor, we are ultimately work with God.

Unfortunately, our attitude to work in the church is often driven or affected by our relationship with each other as leaders or with the pastor, and sometimes even with other members. If, however, we can refocus and recognise that it’s our relationship with God that should determine how we work our work in the church would be different.

Work done to please God and work done for his glory is work that’s done differently. Different attitude, different levels of commitment, with a different quality of relationships, and consequently different results.

Think of these things:

  1. Does your current attitude to work in the ministry reflect that you are God’s co-worker?
  2. Are you maintaining the right quality of relationships with others with whom you are working?
  3. Do you think that the various aspects of your work in the ministry bring glory to God?

Prayer focus:

Let us pray today that as a team we would all see that we are God’s co-workers first so that our work and relationships with each other would reflect that.

In His Grace
